Why Men Are Not Attracted To Women With 6 Pack Abs?

When discussing 6 pack abs the image that pops into most people’s head is a man’s abdomen.

The key there is that it’s a man’s abdomen and not just a person’s in general. Women and men both tend to conjure that image because it’s men who are most often associated with that type of muscular display.

The truth is though, some women not only aim to attain that kind of muscle but achieve it.

Those women are obviously after different things than the women who dream of flat stomachs.

Why Are 6 Pack Abs Only Attractive On Men?

When it’s men with the six pack though, there is little question that it’s something that’s found attractive.

Both women and gay men would most often describe a six pack on a guy as a very sexy thing. When it’s the other way around though, the response won’t be anywhere near as favorable.

Men just don’t tend to be attracted to women with a six pack. In fact, many men would cite that as somewhat of a turnoff and even a potential deal breaker in their quest for a mate.

So why is that?

What is it about the six pack in women that is such a turnoff?

Why Women Are Attracted To 6 Pack Abs

Women are believed to be attracted to a muscular man due to primitive reasons in which they view him as a strong and healthy mate who will be a good provider. On the other hand, there is no evolutionary reason why men should have grown to have distaste for female’s with a strong abdomen and in all reality the visual sign that she was in shape should have evolved to become an equally attractive feature.

It’s very likely then the male’s distaste for females with six packs, for those that do have that distaste, has to do with things that have been learned in more recent human history. To understand this, consider that body building as a science is a relatively new one.

For quite some time men wouldn’t have been regularly seen with bulging muscles, including a six pack. When body building became popular it became popular amongst men and therefore associated with men. Even today few women take part in the sport or activity.

Many conclude from that that men view the six pack a masculine thing. When women have one men are turned off because, perhaps subconsciously, they are associating it as masculine and something they have learned to not be turned on by.

Another theory that’s floating around can use as support the observation that women with six packs tend to be partnered with muscular men. The theory suggests that women with six packs simply intimidate and in turn emasculate certain males. Those who are muscular have no problems partnering with women with six packs whereas those that aren’t, the majority of men, won’t feel adequate around such a woman.

There are of course numerous other theories out there. Some have nothing to do with men being turned off by the six pack but instead the fact that men may be turned on by other things that happen to be lacking where six pack abs exist.

When all is said and done though, none of this should discourage anyone from attaining the body they want. It does however help to know the reasoning behind some of the reactions one may get.
