If losing fat from your body is on your mind then you need to dispense with many of the myths that circulate among the general population and become acquainted with the facts.
One common myth is that consuming fewer calories on a regular basis is enough to allow your body to lose fat.
This is not the case.
While taking in fewer calories will yield some much-hoped for results, at some point to be even more successful in losing fat you will have to lace up your sneakers and get involved with some form of physical activity.
What is the reason for this?
There comes a point where your body will become stubborn and will stop drawing energy from your stored fat. This is when it is time to take action of the physical kind!
Or better yet, to lose fat right from the very beginning be disciplined with yourself – take in less calories and commit yourself to a regular exercise routine!
Don’t Go to Extremes
Speaking of consuming fewer calories, while this is important to losing fat, you do not want to go overboard. It is a common myth that the more extreme you become about caloric intake the faster you will lose fat.
Not only is this untrue but it is a potentially dangerous way of thinking. If you consume too few calories you can harm your health and you might end up gaining pounds as opposed to losing them.
It is not safe to consume less than 1,000 calories a day. If you do this then you are not going to succeed at losing fat. Why is that? When a person consumes too few calories their body goes into starvation mode. In other words, the body thinks that the person is starving and therefore survival tactics are put into play to remedy the situation.
This causes the rate of metabolism to drop which means that there is little to no energy being burned. A person who does this to themselves can experience any number of side effects including feeling faint, weakness, headaches and having problems focusing.
Avoid Skipping Meals
Another weight loss myth that is common is that skipping meals will make the pounds drop off faster. This could not be further from the truth! Just as in the aforementioned myth about extreme calorie cutting, this could actually encourage pounds as opposed to discourage them.
When you go without a meal this causes your metabolism level to drop. You end up being hungrier than usual and are more likely to eat too much at the next meal. This sabotages your efforts at losing fat tremendously! One of the most common meals to skip is breakfast. This is a bigger mistake than skipping lunch or supper!
Your mother was right when she used to tell you that breakfast is the most essential meal of the day.
When you awake after sleeping for a number of hours your body needs to refuel in order for you to have the energy and vitality you need to get through the day and function at the top of your game. Both your brain and nervous system require glucose in the morning to perform practically any task that comes your way.
Do not force your body to run on fumes! You wouldn’t do it to your car and expect it to work well so why do it to your body?
Boost your energy with a well planned daily breakfast.
