Many people need to lose some weight and especially body fat, that’s a fact. Look around where people gather, you’ll see it everywhere and unfortunately it’s only going to get worse. I wrote this post back in 2009 and now obesity is spiraling out of control in most Western countries.
Look in the mirror, unfortunately you’ll likely see it there too.
When your goal is fast fat loss, keep these simple things in mind to lose the pounds quickly and safely. However a word of warning, many who do this only have limited results and weight usually returns faster than you took it off.
Don’t Skip Meals
When people want to lose weight one of the most common things they do is to skip meals. It makes sense, right, cut out the calories by eating one less meal. The lower the calorie intake means losing weight, right?
Yes, but skipping meals is a mistake, not the right way to reduce calories. Your body thinks it’s being starved when you skip meals. It goes into starvation mode.
It starts to retain fat to counteract what it perceives as being starved. Another problem with skipping meals is that when you finally eat you’ll be a lot more hungry.
The result is binge eating.
Skipping a meal plus binge eating, then, will likely result in eating more calories and the body gaining even more weight from those calories than normally.
It’s the worst of both worlds. Don’t skip meals.
You Need A Plan
Have a solid and viable plan on how much to eat. Portion control is just as important as eating the right food. Over indulgence of even the best of foods will still result in weight gain. Portion control isn’t easy when large portions are so common.
Many restaurants whether fast food or traditional and even most of us doing home cooking serve portions far greater than what is needed or required to maintain a healthy weight. Our eyes always seem to be bigger than our bellies and if we don’t over come this trend we will become a planet of over weight and very unhealthy people.
Sources such as the FDA list recommended daily allowances. You should also always consider the portion size when you eat out at restaurants, especially if you visit McDonald’s or other fast food restaurants. You’ll likely have to cut down on what a restaurant serves to you or start to order a smaller meal like an appetizer.
Eat more whole grain foods, skip the white grains such as white bread, sugar and white rice. Whole grains are lower in fat and higher in nutrients. With the added fiber in whole grain it will make you feel contented faster and last much longer stopping the after meal snacks. Also whole grains contain many nutrients that are often lacking in people’s diets.
Drink More Water
Drink it instead of juices and sodas which add about 90,000 calories to the average person’s diet each year. Drink it between meals too. The goal is 8 glasses of water each day. It’s easily possible. Drinking water will also promote health in general by keeping you well hydrated and cool.
You should also take the time to learn more about how water can keep you healthy as it’s a gift from nature.
In order to maintain proper blood sugar eat healthy snacks between meals since the body needs food every three to four hours. Healthy snacks such as grapefruit also help control eating at meal times.
Fast fat loss isn’t out of your reach with a little knowledge, understanding and of course planning. It won’t be long before you’re slimmer and trimmer.
